Introduction to Human Rights

Despite the ongoing erosion of the rule of law and human rights foundations in multiple parts of the world, universal human rights remain the most widely accepted and the most compelling framework for building a world of universal peace and prosperity. Global rankings demonstrate that the nations who managed to build themselves on the foundations of human dignity, equality and human rights achieve high levels of peace, security, prosperity and happiness. In contrast, neglect of human rights leads to conflicts, wars, violence and poverty.

Human rights standards and rule of law principles fully apply to all domains of human activity, including public administration, economic development, business management, education, healthcare, housing, social protection, water management, transportation, urban and community development, not-for-profit / charity operations, etc. Insufficient knowledge and understanding of the basic human rights and rule of principles is an important cause for general and local crises in the mentioned fields in many places around the world. Universal human rights principles and standards were specifically established to promote peaceful relations, social harmony, economic prosperity and sustainable development. Therefore, comprehension of these principle and standards by young people and professionals from all domains is a necessary prerequisite for a qualitatively different way of operation in institutions, organizations, companies and in the everyday life.
