Carigenetics with BC PresidentBermuda College is launching a new course designed to be the essential first step toward becoming a chartered professional in corporate governance.

College launches new corporate governance course

The Corporate Governance Foundations programme is the ideal entry point for individuals with no prior background in law, finance, or corporate governance. It provides the core knowledge and skills needed to transition into this specialised, high-demand field.

A spokesperson for the College said: “Participants will gain a solid understanding of how businesses are organised, governed, and financially managed, along with the crucial legal and compliance frameworks they operate within.

“This knowledge forms the bedrock for the subsequent Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) qualifying programme, making this course a structured entry into the profession.”

The full Foundations programme consists of four components:

  • Introducing the Business Environment
  • Introduction to Corporate and Business Law
  • Principles of Company Compliance and Administration
  • Introduction to Finance and Accounting

The spokesperson added: “By completing all four parts, participants will master key areas such as incorporation processes, company compliance obligations, legal and management structures, and the fundamentals of financial documentation — all critical skills for a successful Company Secretary.”

Examinations for the Foundations programme are held in June and November each year.

The first course, Introducing the Business Environment (TDS 482), begins November 26 and will run weekly from 6 pm to 9 pm, ending December 17.
