Bermuda College Bookstore


The College Bookstore serves the campus community in the purchase of textbooks and materials for all classes taught at Bermuda College, provides in-house stationery, value-priced school supplies; and supports official functions of the College with the provision of academic regalia.

The Bookstore also provides a good selection of hot and cold food items, such as hot lunches, cold sandwiches, hearty salads, pizza, snacks and hot and cold beverages.  There is a lovely outside patio as well as inside seating.

The Bookstore also coordinates the procurement of goods, and serves as a repository for deliveries to the College. A Sales & Merchandising Assistant, and Student Assistants assist the Manager in its daily operation.

In addition to supporting academic education, the Bookstore stocks convenience items, such as umbrellas, tee shirts, gift items and other college paraphernalia. It offers extended hours of operation during the beginning of each semester and at commencement.

Bermuda College Testing and Assessment Centre


Bermuda College is an official, verified testing centre offering a wide range of local, regional, and international examinations. As an authorized Prometric and Pearson VUE Test Centre, we provide candidates with access to some of the most in-demand certifications and qualifications worldwide.

 

We offer a broad selection of Prometric-administered exams, including:

Bermuda Security Standard Examination Application 

Assesses prior knowledge gained from independent study, prior course work, on-the-job-training, etc for college level credit. Visit CLEP website for more information and to schedule your exam.

Serves as the equivalent of a high school diploma. Bermuda College serves as the testing centre only. To register, schedule and pay for the GED exam, please go to the GED website.


Students who wish to sit the GED examinations but do not meet the standard eligibility requirements (for example, age or school enrollment status) must complete a GED Waiver Form before registering for the exam.

Tuition & Finance


Fees are made up of tuition and lab fees (lab courses only). The total is based on the number of credits students register for. Most courses are 3 credits with some exceptions such as CSC and the science lab courses.

Bermuda College has a $200 non-refundable admissions deposit. This deposit activates the registration process for students and will be applied to their first semester fees. The non-refundable deposit will apply to all new, reapplying, transfer and international students.

Textbooks, and other instructional supplies and materials, are not included in College fees and may be purchased at the College Bookstore.

Miscellaneous Fees are non-refundable.

  • Laptop rental $250 per semester
  • Late fees: 1 course $100; 2 courses $150; and 3+ courses $200
  • Student ID Replacement $10 (without access function), $15 (with access function)
  • FULL refund, minus the Admissions Deposit, prior to the first day of class for each semester.
  • PARTIAL TUITION REFUND of 30% on or before the financial penalty date.
  • NO REFUND after the tenth day of class for each semester.

Students are responsible for fees if courses are dropped after the financial penalty date.

NOTE: Non-attendance of class does not constitute an official withdrawal.

Dropping, Withdrawal & Refund Policy

Students are responsible for any fees incurred.  Dropping or withdrawing from a class(es) is not an automatic process.  It is the student's responsibility to officially drop the classes he/she is not attending or no longer wishes to be enrolled in.  Unwanted classes should be dropped as early as possible before the start of the term in order to receive a full refund and release seats for students on the waitlists.  The Drop and Withdrawal Form must be submitted to Student Enrolment Registration and Records (SERR) along with the Request for Refund Form.

Students who are in receipt of a scholarship or award are required to present a statement signed by a representative of the awarding body certifying responsibility for payment.

Dual Enrolment Programme

 

What is Dual Enrolment

A programme that allows senior school students to earn credit towards an associate, certificate and diploma degree. Dual enrolment courses qualify for academic credit in the Bermuda Public Senior School and post-secondary institutions. Tuition is waived for dual enrolment students in the Bermuda Public Senior Schools. However, they are responsible for the purchase of textbooks and other equipment. ​

General Associate Degree Programmes

Dual enrolment allows students to pursue an advanced curriculum relevant to their individual post secondary interest while enrolled in high school.
To be eligible for the Dual Enrolment programme a student must:

  • Be a student in Bermuda public senior school in order to get a tuition waver.
  • Submit the Bermuda College Application with a senior school transcript and copy of passport.
  • Submit a recommendation letter from the school.
  • Sign an agreement to release student record information to their respective senior school, and for use by Bermuda College.
  • Complete the College Placement Test (CPT)​
  • Not have already received a senior school diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma.

She assists with the following:
  • Registration for classes & develop educational plan (mandatory)
  • Monitoring academic progress
  • Academic issues
  • Campus resource identification & utilisation
  • Goal setting
  • Personal growth and career development
  • A student's participation in the Dual Enrolment Programme is limited to the time normally required to complete the senior school diploma, from the time of initial participation in that programme.
  • Student's in the Dual Enrolment Programme must abide by all Bermuda College policies procedures, and regulations.
  • Grades college credits earned by students are recorded at Bermuda College. The transcript of the college coursework may be released to the student's senior school, future higher education or applied toward Bermuda College graduation requirements if applicable.
  • Students enrolled in course(s) at Bermuda College for dual enrolment credit are expected to perform at the college level. Failure will mean that a student will not receive credit toward high-school graduation. Conversely, students receiving a passing grade upon completion of course(s) for dual enrolment credit will receive the grade obtained from Bermuda College. The grade will also be factored into the student's grade point average (GPA) on their senior school transcript.
  • Students are expected to attend class during the first week of classes, even though this date may not coincide with the start date at their high school. Failing to start classes during this time may result in the loss of the student's place in the programme.
  • Parents will not be included in meetings held by faculty and/or counsellor and student.

Full Time Students

  • Meet all entry requirements and place in both freshmen English and mathematics on the placement test.
  • Can Enrol in up to 15 credits or more.

Part Time Students

  • Meet all entry requirements and place in either freshmen English or mathematics on the placement test.
  • Can enrol in up to 6 credits, 2 academic courses.

Note: All students must maintain 2.0 GPA. Failure to do so warrants the return of the student to their respective high school.

The Certificate for Nursing Assistants was developed in collaboration with the Bermuda Nursing Midwifery Council. It prepares participants with the prerequisites needed to become registered with the Bermuda Nursing Council as nursing assistants in the health care industry. Participants will cover topics such as Vital signs; Medical Terminology; Caring for Seniors and others in Need of Medical Care; Professional Regulations; Legal and Ethical Issues in the Health Care Industry.

Program Requirements:

  • Submit the Bermuda College Application with a senior school transcript.
  • Submit copy of passport.
  • Students entering this programme must be proficient in English and mathematics. Potential students will be assessed. Those needing support in English and or Math must successfully complete these requirements prior to enrolling in the programme.

  • Hair Follicle Drug Screening (Employee Health Services, King Edward Memorial Hospital only)
  • Proof of valid Health Insurance
  • Covid-19 Vaccine

  • SCARS Training
  • Regular Covid-19 Testing
  • American Heart Foundation 2-person Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED)

The Emergency Medical Technician Programme prepares graduates 18 years and older to initiate assessment and care of the ill or injured patient. After successful completion of the programme, each graduate must succeed at the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) practical and computer based knowledge examinations. This programme provides opportunity to prepare for entry-level positions in the Emergency Medical Services profession for possible employment in a variety of pre-hospital, hospital, Fire and Rescue Services and industrial settings.

Programme Requirements:

  • Students entering this programme must be proficient in English and mathematics. Potential students will be assessed. Those needing support in English and or Math must successfully complete these requirements prior to enrolling in the programme.

What happens if I fail a course that has a second part? You will not be able to move on and will have to return back to high school.

What happens if I don't receive a 2.00 GPA at the end of the semester? You will have to return back to high school.

What happens if I don't show up for a final exam? BC stated that if you don't show up for a final exam you will receive an automatic F grade.

What happens if I don't submit my assignments by the deadline? Your instructor will give you a zero grade and this can affect your overall semester/cumulative GPA.

Do my instructors take attendance? Yes!

Will my instructor notify my parents if I don't hand in assignments or don't attend class? No, but they will communicate with the high school liaison.

Am I responsible for my textbooks and supplies? Yes, students are responsible for the purchases of course materials - textbooks, calculators, textbook access codes, uniforms, knifes, etc.
