Joan Dillas-Wright and Tammy Richardson Augustus as Honorary Fellows

event

Bermuda College has inducted two exceptional Bermudians, Joan Dillas-Wright and Tammy Richardson Augustus, as Honorary Fellows, recognising their outstanding professional achievements, national leadership, and enduring service to Bermuda.

The honour was conferred at a ceremony held at Coco Reef Resort, where both women were celebrated for the impact they have made in their respective fields and in the wider community.

Honorary Fellowship is among the College’s highest distinctions, awarded to individuals whose accomplishments and service reflect the values and aspirations of Bermuda College.

Joan Dillas-Wright, President of the Senate of Bermuda, was recognised for her remarkable contributions to healthcare, public service, and national leadership.

Her career has been defined by resilience, commitment, and a passion for helping others, including three decades of service with the Bermuda Hospitals Board. Her contribution to healthcare was formally recognised in 2008, when she was awarded an MBE.

Tammy Richardson Augustus was honoured for her distinguished legal career and her longstanding contributions to governance, education, and community life.

A highly respected legal and civic leader, she has served for nearly 30 years as an equity partner at Appleby and has supported numerous statutory boards, charitable organisations, and public institutions.

Her connection to Bermuda College also spans many years, including her role as a lead lecturer in the University of Kent’s first extra-mural law programme in association with the College.

The occasion was especially meaningful for Ms Richardson Augustus and her family.

Her late father, Kenneth Richardson, was also named a Fellow, making them only the second father and daughter to receive the honour. The first was Mansfield Brock and his daughter Arlene Brock.

Bermuda College President Dr. David Sam said that while the two inductees were honoured for their past contributions to the community, it was also for their “fervent commitment to enhance and promote the programming of the college and to encourage meaningful support for the College”.

“Joan Dillas-Wright and Tammy Richardson Augustus have each made extraordinary contributions to Bermuda through distinguished professional achievement and a deep, sustained commitment to public service.

“Mrs. Dillas-Wright’s leadership in healthcare and national life, together with her perseverance and dedication to others, has left an indelible mark on our community.”

“Ms Richardson Augustus has demonstrated exceptional excellence in the legal profession while also giving generously of her time and expertise in service to education, governance and community advancement.”

Dr. Sam added: “They were chosen as Honorary Fellows because they embody the highest ideals of leadership, service and achievement, and because their lives offer inspiring examples of what it means to serve Bermuda with distinction.”

The event took place last Saturday.
