Bermuda College has partnered with the Adult Education School (AES) to provide reciprocal services as it relates to college preparedness.

In a process of ‘reciprocal referrals’, defined in a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the College and the Adult Education School (AES), both organisations would assist students in transitioning seamlessly into College-level courses, leading ultimately to the realisation of academic or career goals.

AES learners, having met published eligibility requirements, would be referred to seek admission into any course or programme of study facilitated by Bermuda College. The transition would be supported by a network of both AES and BC resources.

Adult Education Articulation Signing

Similarly, College applicants seeking to exit the K-12 system prior to graduation, and who do not demonstrate the academic preparedness or self-management to enter the college environment; or students admitted to BC, but who have been recommended to complete developmental level course work via a standardised assessment tool, can be referred to the AES for academic preparation.

“The College continues to dismantle the barriers impacting access to higher education and, through this partnership, looks to honour the transformational pathway the Adult Education School represents for many in our community. The intent is to address gaps in service through the creation of a supportive network as learners transition from one institution to the other,” said Acting Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, Ms. Nikkita Scott.

Chairman of the AES, Dr. Ernest Peets agreed, “This partnership creates a supportive pathway for learners and, additionally, especially for the most vulnerable learners in our community, gives them access to higher education, vistas and dreams.”
