In a collaborative advocacy for peace in the community, Bermuda College will be joining with other parochial Paget and Warwick groups this Saturday, March 11, in solidarity of the clarion call for peace on the Island.

Bermuda College representatives, including the College’s MenSpeak Student Group, will be joining a host of other Paget/Warwick representatives on the weekend. They include: Bright Temple AME Church, Christ Church (Warwick), Paget F.C., Paget Primary School, PHC, Purvis Primary, Rehoboth Church of God, Warwick Academy, and the Warwick Workmen’s Club.

Event organiser, Glen Fubler said the groups’ focus is on providing a proactive approach to addressing anti-social conduct and the cycle of violence, with the goal of fostering community.

MenSpeak advisor, Lyndon Jackson said the student group was “committed to both the BC community and the wider community, and looks to embrace initiatives that bring awareness to issues that impact these spaces in one way or another – gun violence, and violence in general, is one of them,” he said. “One loss of life in, in such a small community as Bermuda, impacts us all.”

The Community Peace Walk will begin Saturday afternoon, with a Peace tree planting at Bermuda College at 4 p.m. Walkers will then trek west on South Road, right onto Southcote Road over to Ord Road, turning right onto Cobb’s Hill, and ending at the grounds of Warwick Workmen’s Club.

Refreshments will be provided and free limited return transportation will be available to take walkers back to the Bermuda College campus.

Donations are being solicited for families in need, and can be made online to The Friends of Christ Church Warwick Trust (ref. Peace Walk) – Clarien Bank Bermuda. Account #6000 166 404.
