Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) today welcomed Bermuda College culinary arts students and lecturer, Senior Chef, Dr. Teneika Eve as they handed out one-thousand hot cross buns to staff at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute (MWI), in a community-minded, give-back initiative.

On hand to welcome the College, and to receive the seasonal favourite was BHB Deputy CEO, Scott Pearman. “On behalf of Bermuda Hospitals Board management and staff, I thank Bermuda College and in particular Dr. Teneika Eve and her culinary arts students, for this generous gesture. Our healthcare vision is “to pursue excellence through improvement, to make Bermuda proud. The last two years have been difficult for our staff and the challenges persist. It is kind gestures like this that buoy our spirits and reinforce that each of us is truly valued by our community.

We are very familiar with the high calibre of aspiring professional chefs emanating from the Bermuda College. Many have worked as trainees in our Food Services Department. This gift is a great example of their baking expertise.”

Bermuda College President, Dr. Duranda Greene also touted the initiative as a great way to celebrate those who continue to serve the community so selflessly. “The Community Give Back is a wonderful way to say ‘thank you’ to our healthcare workers. Thanks to Chef Eve and our culinary arts students, and to BHB for making this day so special for them. They all certainly deserve it. I am always grateful for the College’s continuous, collaborative partnership with BHB which provides so many career pathway opportunities for Bermuda College’s students, especially our healthcare students. It’s good to be able to show our appreciation in this unique way.”

Organised through BHB’s Morale Team and Chef Eve, the hot cross buns were distributed over a three-hour period in the Hospital’s Acute Care Wing lobby, and at MWI’s Rehabilitation Dining Room.
