The dynamic duo of father and son culinary professionals, Dr. Fred Ming and his son, Chef Shawn Ming was an easy recipe for success, recently. What made the evening particularly delightful was the easy and ready rapport with which the senior Chef Ming engaged with his viewers – both online and in person. He regaled them with stories of his grandmother’s cooking tips, local folklore, his culinary travel experiences around the world, and how chefs and kitchen practices have evolved. Mr. Ming, the younger, followed smoothly in his father’s wake; and in true instructor style, fired off information and then tested everyone on what they had retained, keeping the atmosphere light and congenial.

Presentation, demonstration, engagement, and sampling – all in approximately 90 minutes. It left many not quite ready to take their leave of these two, true Bermudian gents; and most calling for this to become a regular feature of the Library calendar.

Hats off to organiser, Shelley Riley and her team of helpers, and to the student chefs who assisted so ably.

An absolutely delectable evening!
