THE CERTIFICATE FOR DENTAL ASSISTANTS WAS DESIGNED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BERMUDA COLLEGE, THE BERMUDA DENTAL ASSOCIATION, AND THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH.
Making beautiful smiles. The Dental Assistant Programme prepares students to become professional, knowledgeable, competent members of the dental health care team. Dental Assistants will be able to work in dental clinics, and other health care facilities. Upon successful completion of the programme, students will be prepared to sit the Dental Assistant National Board Exam which is recognized by the American Dental Association.
Entry Requirements
Potential candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, accrued a minimum of 2,400 hrs of clinical experience in a dental office within the last two years and currently be working in a dental office. Those needing support in English and or math must successfully complete these requirements prior to enrolling in the programme.

TDS DENT1 |
This module is designed to provide an overview of the dental profession. It introduces the dental healthcare team members, discusses the legal and ethical standards expected in the dental profession, and the science of dentistry.
| Radiation Health and Safety |

This module will provide students with the information needed to understand radiation; and how to use it safely in the dental office to produce radiographs that are of the best possible diagnostic quality. This is covered with a balance of theory and technique.

In this module students will study the rational for proper infection control and learn how to implement the policies and procedures necessary to protect themselves and their patients to prevent the transmission of disease in the dental office. Students will learn the CDC guidelines and the OSHA requirements that dental professionals need to know to comply.
| General Chairside Assisting |

Students will learn how to support the dentist or hygienist. They will learn how handle equipment and instruments; prepare work stations; assist during dental procedures; and engage in administrative functions.
The programme will culminate in a one week full time clinical experience where students will engage in practical experiences in an approved dental setting under the supervision of a certified dentist.
